Use Safe Online Habits. Take the time to familiarize yourself with current threats and learn how to reduce your online risks.
Install Security Software. Ensure that any computer you use to access your Scottrade account has the most current anti-virus, firewall and anti-spyware software installed. Create a Safe and Hard-to-Guess Password. Learn more about password security.
Keep Your Operating System and Browser Updated. Regularly download security updates and patches for your operating system. Keep your Internet browser up-to-date in order to utilize the most current security technologies. Learn more about protecting your personal computer.
Review Your Financial History Regularly. Review statement and transaction history for all financial accounts regularly. Notify Scottrade immediately of any unauthorized account activity.
Protect Your Wireless Network. Learn more about protecting your wireless network connection from unauthorized users.
Back-Up Your Files on a Regular Basis. You should set-up a regular schedule for backing up your important data to CDs, DVDs or an external hard drive.
Report Suspected Fraud. Protect yourself from identity theft by reporting any fraudulent activity to the company being misrepresented, as well as, the FTC.
Protect Your Account Number And Password. Do not share your account number or password with anyone. Take precautions to safeguard your account number and password.
