Creating Alerts

To create an alert in ELITE, click the Alerts Manager button in the top left corner of the Alerts window.

The Alerts Manager dialog box displays additional options and settings.

To create a new Alert:

1. From the top left corner of the Alerts Manager dialog box, click Add New Alert.

2. In the blank field that has focus, type the name of the alert.

3. Click Add New Rule.

4. In the Rule parameters box, type your symbol.

4(a). To create rule for an option, click the Options Builder button.

Note: To get information about a company via the symbol, click the magnifying glass icon.

5. Use the Alert Type list to categorize the alert you're setting.

6. From the Condition list, select the condition that will need to be met for you to receive an alert.

7. In the Value box, type a value.

8. Click Set to save the criteria you defined.

9. To choose a delivery method, at the bottom of the window, select the E-mail check box or Audio Alerts check box.

The Alert e-mail delivery will send an e-mail to your preferred e-mail address. For additional information, see Configuring Alert Settings.

Audio delivery will display the alert on the right-hand side of your computer screen, accompanied by a sound of your choice. For additional information, see Configuring Alert Settings.

10. Click OK to save your settings and close the Alerts Manager dialog box.

Note: Up to ten alerts messages are displayed in the list at one time. When an 11th alert arrives, the oldest alert message closes automatically.

Creating an Alert with Multiple Rules

Creating an alert with multiple rules allows you to specify several conditions that must be met regarding a security before you receive an alert. To create an alert with multiple rules, follow the 10 steps listed above. Then, click Add New Rule. To set up the additional Alerts Rule parameters, see Creating Alerts and repeat steps 5 through 10.

Modifying an Existing Alert:

To make changes to the rule you created for an alert, from the Alerts window:

  1. Click Alerts Manager.
  2. The Alerts Manager dialog box appears.
  3. From the Alerts list, select the alert you want to modify.
  4. From the Alert Rules list, select the rule you want to modify.
  5. Click Modify Rule.
  6. To modify the Alert Rules parameters, see Creating Alerts and repeat steps 5 through 10.

Deleting an Alert

To delete an alert, from the Alerts window:

  1. Click Alerts Manager.
  2. The Alerts Manager dialog box appears.
  3. From the Alerts list, click the alert you want to delete and then click Delete Alert.
  4. Click Yes when you see a message prompting you to confirm your choice to delete the alert.
  5. To close the Alerts Manager dialog box, click OK.

Deleting an existing Alert Rule

To delete an existing Alert Rule, from the Alerts window:

  1. Click Alerts Manager.

The Alerts Manager dialog box appears.

  1. From the Alerts list, select the alert you want to modify.
  2. From the Alert Rules list, select the rule you want to delete.
  3. Click Delete Rule.

  1. Click OK to save your changes and close the Alerts Manager dialog box.

To reset an alert to its original status, see Resetting an Alert.

Resetting an Alert

To reset an alert to its original status, from the Alerts window:

  1. Click Alerts Manager.

The Alerts Manager dialog box appears.

  1. From the Alerts list, select the alert you want to reset.
  2. Click Reset Alert.

Note: When you reset the alert, the alert will revert to its original status (as if you just created the Alert). The triggered counts for the alert will also be reset.

  1. Click OK to save your changes and close the Alerts Manager dialog box.

Note: Up to ten alerts messages are displayed in the list at one time. When an 11th alert arrives, the oldest alert message closes automatically.

Viewing Triggered Alerts

When the conditions for the alert parameters you specified are met, ELITE will trigger the alert and send you a notification using the delivery method you selected.

When you are logged on to the ELITE platform and an alert is triggered, a message with the alert's details appears on the right side of the computer screen.

  • Alert Rules (One Rule Specified) - If the alert contains one rule, the rule will display within the pop-up window.
  • Alert Rules (Multiple Rules Specified) - If the alert has multiple rules, click the alert name within the pop-up window to view the full details of the alert.

Configuring Alert Settings

To configure your Alert settings:

  1. On the Alerts menu in the top left corner of the Alerts window, click Configure.

The Configure Alerts dialog box appears.
