Configure Chart Tab

To access the Chart Configure Tab, right-click on the chart to access the Chart menu or click the Charts menu button shown in the image below.

Once the Configure Chart Tab is selected, the window below will appear. The color, displays or watermark can be modified from this window by clicking the appropriate menu item. Once something has been modified, click the Apply button at the bottom of the window to see the changes implemented. You'll need to click OK to close the Configure Chart Tab window.

Below, you'll find a quick list of the different settings that can be changed from the Chart Configure Tab.

Background Color- Sets the background color for the chart; the default is white.

Background Gradient- Selecting this checkbox allows you to choose a gradient background color; the default is gray.

If selected, the top of the chart begins with the background color and ends with the gradient color.

Scale Background- This feature sets the color background for the X and Y scales; the default color is white.

Scale Gradient- Selecting this checkbox allows a gradient background color; the default color is gray.

Text- Sets the color of all text on the chart; the default color is black.

Grid Lines- The checkbox indicates whether the grid lines are displayed on the chart; the default color is gray.

Bars- Sets the color for bars; the default color is black. For Candle Patterns, the color settings made when the candles are selected shall take precedence over the bars color setting.

Close Line- When this feature is selected the chart is displayed as a line, based on the daily close; the default color is black.

Candles Up- Sets the color to use when the closing price is higher than the opening price; the default color is green.

Candles Down- Sets the color to use when the closing price is lower than the opening price; the default color is red.

Candles Body- Sets the color to use if the current close is equal to the prior close; the default color is black.

Mountain- Sets the color to use in mountain charts; the default color is blue.

Crosshairs- Sets the color to use to display crosshairs; the default color is black.

The cross hairs will display the date and price on the X-axis and Y-axis for the chart. If the Data Window is active, it will show the Open, High, Low and Close values which will reflect where the crosshairs are located on the chart as well as any Chart Studies that are currently loaded.

Data Window Background- Sets the color to use for the background of the data window; the default color is white.

Data Window Text- Sets the color to use for the text that displays in the data window; the default color is black.

If the Data Window is active, it will show the Open, High, Low and Close values which will reflect where the crosshairs are located on the chart as well as any Chart Studies that are currently loaded.

Offset- The space between last bar and the beginning of the price scale is defaulted to a 5-bar width.

Scale- This feature enables the scale to be changed from the default Linear to Logarithmic. An alternate type of scale used on a chart that is plotted in such a way that two equivalent percent changes are represented by the same vertical distance on the scale, regardless of what the price of the asset is when the change occurs. The distance between the numbers on the scale decreases as the price of the underlying asset increases. This is the case because a $1 increase in price becomes less influential as the price heads higher since it now corresponds to less of a percentage change than it did when the price of the asset was at a lower level.

Show Dividends- This feature displays an icon on the chart for the day on which the dividend was paid. In the image below, dividend announcements are shown in green.

Show Splits- This feature displays an icon on the chart for the day a stock split occurred.

Show Earnings- This feature displays an icon on the day earnings are reported. The date shall be the date on which the earnings announcement was made.

Show Daybreak Lines- This feature will display a vertical line on the day breaks (market close time) for 30 minute and under intraday charts only. If multiple events occur within the same bar, the indicator shall display an asterisk. By resting the cursor on the indicator a display inside a tooltip will appear showing all of the indicators for that bar. Such as- “Split” or “Reverse Split”.

Indicator Labels on Price Axis- This feature will show or hide price points for studies and indicators on the Y-axis. Their color will be determined by the color of study. If the color of the study is blue, then the color of the price point will be a blue box with white text.

Show Extended Hours Trading- This feature displays pre- and post-market trading activity in an Intraday chart.

Market hours are 9:30:00 to 15:59:59 ET.

After hours trading hours are 16:00:00 to 19:59:59 ET. Pre-market trading hours are 08:00:00 to 09:29:59 ET. The default color is gray.

Display Symbol Value- Include checkboxes for the following Display Symbol Value prices- Symbol, Last, $ Chg, Open, High and Low.

Watermark-This feature will add a watermark display inside a chart.

Show Symbol- Will show the current symbol in the chart.

Show Name- Will show the name of the stock that is loaded.

Color- Select the color in which the watermark is displayed.

Transparency- Slide the bar to select the transparency with which the watermark is displayed.

Size- Slide the bar to select the size in which the watermark is displayed.

Anchor on Chart- These buttons allow the specific location for where the watermark is displayed on the chart.

Once you determine which settings you want applied to your chart, use one of the buttons described below to implement your changes.

Restore Original Settings- Resets all chart settings to the predetermined system default values

Apply- Applies settings to chart and leaves Configure Chart Tab dialog open

OK- Saves chart settings and closes Configure Chart Tab dialog

Cancel- Exits the Configure Chart Tab dialog without saving changes
